Khanmigo free alternatives for kids
Reviewed 2026-10-19 from the same public pages as the directory. If a tool page says a price or a privacy claim is unverified, this guide does not fill it in.
Khanmigo free alternatives for kids start with the free libraries already in this directory. Khanmigo is a paid tutor. Khan Academy lists the parent plan at $4 a month or $44 a year, for a U.S. billing address, with the tutor turned on for up to 10 children under 18. Sign-up is for adults 18 and older. Khan Academy says it guides a child instead of handing over the answer. That is the company’s claim.
The tools below are already in this directory, and the free part is what their public pages said. They are not the same product as Khanmigo. A camera solver is not listed here as a substitute for a tutor. See Khanmigo vs MagicSchool if the other option is a school platform rather than a parent subscription, and the Khanmigo safety note. A side by side with the newer tutor is IQnition vs Khanmigo. Tutors with a verified free tier are in free AI tutor for kids.
Free lesson libraries
- Khan Academy keeps the lesson library free. Khanmigo is the paid layer on top of it. The youngest elementary kids are often pointed to Khan Academy Kids, which the store listings say is free for ages 2–8, preschool through 2nd grade.
- Zearn says individual accounts and the K–8 math lessons are free. It is a lesson, not a chatbot.
- Boddle says the math questions stay free for kindergarten through 6th grade. Premium is optional.
- NoRedInk says signup is free for parents and students, grades 3–12. Premium is sold to schools, not as a family plan.
- Quill says the writing activities are free. The live site showed 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th grade. An older grades 3–12 PDF is not used here.
- Duolingo ABC says the reading app is free, with no ads. Store listings disagree on whether it runs through 1st grade or 2nd.
A free tier that can also just solve it
CK-12 Flexi is free, and the student-tutor page we read called out math grades 6, 7, and 8. Younger than 6th grade was not established. The Play listing also says you can photograph a problem and get a solution, so it is filed as mixed, not as a tutor that only asks questions.
A free plan, not a free product
IQnition asks guiding questions and has a free plan: 3 tutor sessions a day, 5 practice quizzes a week, and 1 learner. Student is $9.99 a month. That is a limit, not the same as Khan Academy’s free library. Grades on this site are 3–8. The company says 3–12.
